Martin Privalsky, in his office

Give Day 2021

On April 16th, UC Davis will launch its 5th annual Give Day, which is a 29-hour online giving campaign to raise funds for critical programs and services across campus.

Wolf Heyer has chosen to be a Give Day Challenge Sponsor in memory of our dear colleague Professor Emeritus Marty Privalsky.  Marty peacefully passed away last fall, surrounded by his loving wife Sue and his sons Tom and JJ, after a long and valiant struggle with multiple myeloma, which he confronted with his emblematic wit and humor.

Marty’s career was dedicated to pioneering innovative research on nuclear hormone receptors, which led to many seminal discoveries that were driven by his intellectual curiosity, mastery of molecular biology, and untiring creativity. He was the epitome of a University of California faculty member, an outstanding scientist, a gifted teacher and mentor, and a strong advocate for faculty and shared governance.

Please join Wolf Heyer in making a gift to the Martin L. Privalsky Memorial Lecture Fund, which will support one or more lectures in his memory. You can donate right now (through the fund link above) until Saturday, April 17th and your gift will count towards Give Day. After April 17th donations can be made through the general donation page for the Privalsky Fund.

We hope you’ll consider joining Wolf to honor the life and achievements of Marty, as he gave so much to all of us throughout his 36-year career at UC Davis.

Thank you
