MMG Cancer Biology Professor
The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, in the College of Biological Sciences, University of California, Davis, invites applications for tenured Professor at the Associate or Full Professor level in Cancer Biology. Candidates whose research focuses on fundamental questions in cancer biology at the molecular, cellular, and/or organismal level investigated through laboratory and computational approaches are encouraged to apply. Postdoctoral Scholar - Barlow lab
A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Barlow laboratory in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. The focus of the Barlow laboratory is to elucidate the molecular and genetic factors governing the causes and consequences of genome instability in primary, immortalized and transformed cells. The primary research aim of the laboratory is to investigate how secondary structures forming in DNA induce replication stress and DNA damage in highly proliferative cell types such as lymphocytes, and to define the mechanisms maintaining genome integrity during DNA replication and cell division. The lab has emerging projects on how genome instability interacts with the innate immune response and neurodegeneration and established projects investigating the impact of genome instability on the adaptive immune system using mouse as a model organism. The laboratory uses a combination of genetics, molecular biology, and next-generation sequencing to investigate where and how DNA damage arises, define downstream consequences on cell division and metabolism, and identify novel determinants underlying disease initiation and progression.

Junior Specialist - Barlow 
The Junior Specialist will participate in publishable research focusing on mechanisms of genome stability and inflammatory signaling. The research will use mouse models, human cell lines, as well as molecular biology, genetic perturbation, fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry. The successful candidate will create DNA constructs, introduce DNA constructs into human cell lines and analyze cells using a range of techniques. The successful candidate will also analyze data and carry out biochemical and molecular assays. The position will also involve general laboratory maintenance such as ordering supplies, helping to maintain safety records, cleaning of glassware, putting away glassware and supplies, and maintaining frozen stocks of cells and plasmids.
